The IIDA PA/NJ/DE Chapter’s board members are passionate about the profession of interior design. We believe that interior designers working in a code-regulated environment should possess the necessary education, experience, and certification to design safe, healthy, code-compliant environments. Of course, we also believe that the work of interior designers should be visually engaging and attractive – that’s an integral part of what we do. But that’s not all that we do.
As advocates for interior design, we strongly believe that interior designers are professionals and should be recognized as such. That’s why we support Pennsylvania’s Interior Designer Registration Act. So why are we saying “we did”? Because to show our support for the Interior Designer Registration Act, we wrote to our local legislators to ask for their support. We did this because many people are not aware of the differences between interior design and interior decoration and may not understand that we work in code-regulated environments, impacting the health, safety, and welfare of building occupants. We did this because we know we are educated, we are experienced, and we are certified to perform code-regulated interior design services – and to be held accountable for out work.
